How do I add a friend?

Open Yap, tap the add-friend icon, and search by username. Send a friend request, and once they accept, you can yap each other.

How long are yaps stored?

Each yap is replaced as soon as your friend replies. The previous yap is permanently deleted from our servers. Yap is not an archive; it's a live conversation.

Can I delete my account or data?

Yes. You can delete your account directly from Settings inside the app. Alternatively, email support@yapmeback.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request" and we'll delete your account, all yaps you've sent, and any associated data within 30 days. This is part of our GDPR and CCPA compliance.

Is Yap free?

Yes. The core experience is completely free. We may add optional premium features later, but the messaging core will always be free.

Why doesn't Yap have a feed or discover page?

Because Yap is built for your closest friendships, not for browsing strangers. The lack of a feed is the feature. We don't want you scrolling. We want you actually talking with the people who matter.

How do I report a bug, abusive user, or content?

Data deletion request

To request deletion of your data, email support@yapmeback.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request." Include the phone number or email associated with your account. We'll confirm receipt within 7 days and complete deletion within 30 days. This complies with GDPR (EU) and CCPA/CPRA (California) requirements.
